TEIN EnduraPro PLUS shock absorbers
Would you like to renew your suspension and adjust its response without converting to coilovers? TEIN EnduraPro PLUS combines vehicle-specific shock absorbers in an original-equipment shape with adjustable damping. This range is intended for drivers who want to retain their existing spring concept while making a more deliberate choice about how their car responds to uneven surfaces, changes in load and longer road undulations.

What EnduraPro PLUS changes on your car
The spring supports the car and, together with the other suspension components, determines its static ride height. The shock absorber controls movement between the wheel suspension and the body. These jobs work together but are not interchangeable. EnduraPro PLUS lets you change a damping setting; it does not let you select a different spring rate or a particular amount of lowering. If changing ride height is your main objective, compare suitable TEIN coilovers and lowering springs as well.
A worn shock absorber does not always reveal itself through a visible oil leak. Repeated bouncing, an unsettled feel or uneven tyre wear can be reasons to have the complete suspension inspected. These observations are not a definitive diagnosis: tyre pressure, tyres, bushes and wheel alignment can produce similar symptoms. A replacement damper kit works best as part of a sound suspension system with correctly matched components.
Understanding the 16 damping settings
EnduraPro PLUS provides 16 levels of adjustment, with compression and rebound adjusted together. Compression concerns the wheel moving into its travel; rebound concerns its return. One adjuster offers a straightforward approach for everyday use, because it changes a matched combination instead of requiring two independent controls to be coordinated. The number of settings is not a percentage scale. Eight clicks do not necessarily represent half a defined damping force, and settings for different cars cannot be compared directly.
Start from the baseline specified for your particular kit. Record each subsequent change and avoid changing tyre pressure, height and damping at the same time. This makes the effect easier to understand. A familiar route with a variety of ordinary road surfaces can help you compare the response. The firmest setting is not a universal target. What matters is how consistently the car controls wheel movement and whether that response suits its use. Follow the supplied instructions for direction of rotation, end stops and the permitted adjustment range.
Original shape and the springs already fitted
The EnduraPro family follows the original shape required by the specific vehicle. In the intended application, the appropriate springs and upper mounting components are retained. This gives a clear distinction from a complete coilover kit: you are choosing a damper kit for a documented vehicle version. It is not a universal set that can be adjusted to suit any engine, suspension layout or mounting arrangement.
Extra care is needed if lowering springs are already installed. A damper fitting the original mounting points does not establish compatibility with every shorter spring. Available travel, spring preload, bump stops and the documents covering the combination must agree. When asking about an existing conversion, include the spring manufacturer and part number as well as any other suspension changes. This avoids advice based on a standard car when the actual vehicle has already been modified.
Twin-tube construction and hydraulic support near full compression
The supplier catalogue describes EnduraPro PLUS with twin-tube construction and, depending on the version, hydraulic support near the end of compression travel. In a hydraulic damper, oil flowing through restrictions creates resistance and converts movement into heat. A twin-tube design uses a working chamber and an additional compensation space. For product selection, the name of the design alone matters less than the vehicle-specific calibration and the working travel available in the installation.
TEIN calls its hydraulic bump-stop system H.B.S. It helps control movement during substantial compression, but it does not justify overloading the vehicle, running insufficient ground clearance or combining unsuitable springs. The specified conventional bump stops must still be fitted. There are also differences within the range: TEIN states that dampers equipped with its D.B.A. adjuster do not have H.B.S. Always check the selected part number instead of assuming that every feature in a general range description applies to every kit.
Will you be able to reach the adjusters?
An adjuster may look easy to reach in a product photograph. Once installed, trim, bodywork or the mounting position can restrict access. Check this before buying if you intend to change settings regularly. “Adjustable damping” initially describes a mechanical capability. It does not guarantee that every adjuster can be reached with the wheel, interior trim and all surrounding components still in place.
One example in our range is the EnduraPro PLUS VSGP4-B1DS2 kit for the Tesla Model Y applications listed on its product page. The corresponding TEIN note requires the rear damper to be loosened for manual adjustment. This is relevant when deciding whether the kit suits frequent setting changes. It must not be obscured by a general PLUS description or a photograph showing an exposed adjustment dial. The installation notes for the selected application remain decisive.
Planning an EDFC upgrade
For applications explicitly listed as compatible, a TEIN EDFC system can operate the existing damping adjusters using motors. It does not automatically change ride height and does not replace a mechanical fitment check. A controller on its own is not a complete installation: the motor kit, available mounting space and any necessary extensions must match the particular damper version.
Choose accessories using the manufacturer's part number for your suspension. A general statement such as “for EnduraPro PLUS” is insufficient when a vehicle application is excluded or requires different motors. The EDFC category contains the individual components. Compare both compatibility and kit contents before ordering them together. A difficult-to-reach manual adjuster does not, by itself, prove that an electronic conversion is possible on that vehicle.
Finding and comparing the right kit
Start the vehicle selection with make and model, then compare chassis code, production period and version. Body style and drivetrain can restrict an application, as can factory electronic dampers. First registration is not a substitute for the production date. Around a model change, a car registered later may still belong to an earlier production phase. Every restriction in the product information continues to apply even if the general model name matches.
Our current EnduraPro offers follow the kits listed in the supplied price list. Check the stated contents rather than assuming that a photograph of one damper means the offer is a single unit. Also consider EnduraPro without PLUS if you do not need manual damping adjustment. EnduraPro HC PLUS belongs to the lift range and should be assessed separately when considering ride height.
Installation, care and your next step
Plan installation with a qualified workshop. This includes checking reused mounts, bump stops and dust protection, and arranging the wheel-geometry checks required by the work. Record the baseline settings after installation. Keep threaded parts and adjusters clean as instructed, and do not use force to overcome a stuck end stop. When identifying a kit already on a car, the manufacturer's part number is much more useful than the colour of its body.
